Upcoming Events – 2020 Update
What a start to 2020!! I was lucky enough to complete two of the events that I had planned for this year.
I flew down to Tasmania in February and I finished the 25 km Gone Nuts Adventure Run. It was a fantastic experience.
On Sunday March 8th I completed the 1.4 km Ocean Swim in the bay on the Broulee Headland.
Keep an eye out for my next blogs and I will share with you both adventures.
Since sharing my last blog so many things have changed for us all. Due to the closures/restrictions that have now been put in place to fight COVID-19 my “2020 Year of Adventure” has had a few changes.
March (28th & 29th Bintan – Indonesia) – CANCELLED
Singapore Airlines have postponed my flights and the 2020 Tour de Bintan race has been cancelled.
May (Thunder Dragon ½ marathon – Bhutan) – ?????????
At this stage there are question marks as to whether this event will go ahead. It is very likely to also be postponed/cancelled.
May – Sat 30th Coastal Charity Walk – POSTPONED – new date
The 36km charity walk/run from Byron Bay to Ballina to raise funds for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter will now be on Saturday 12th September 2020.
June (I celebrate my 65th birthday) STILL ON!!!
I am hoping this one will still go ahead 😊
July (Sat 25th Uluru NT) – CANCELLED
I received notification today that this event will be cancelled for 2020. I will be able to move my registration forward to complete this event next year.
August (Birdsville Track) – ?????????
Now this is an adventure that I am planning myself. At the moment, it has many question marks as to when I will head back out to the track. I will do it at a time that it is safe, and restrictions / closures are no longer in place. Not cancelled may just need to postpone.
IN THE NOW:
I have four of my immediate family on the front line. A paramedic, a nurse and doctors, I am supporting them by:
- Following all the instructions and recommendations given to us.
- Social distancing
- Using correct COVID-19 Hygiene procedures
- I am continuing my training – I train in the early hours of the morning between 3am and 5am – a time that no one else is around.
- I am the shopping gatherer for 6 families here in town who need to isolate and shut down (due to medical conditions, cancer treatments, and age – babies and elderly)
I hope you are all staying safe, well and keeping your distance.
Cheers Kenny Mac
